Mount Aspiring House is comprised of a pair of single-level pavilions with a low linking structure between.  The house is set high and to the rear of the section which ensures impressive views out to Lake Wanaka.

The lower pavilion contains the living spaces and guest rooms, physically defined by a reflecting pond, whilst the upper pavilion contains the master suite and garaging. 

The material palette throughout the house is simple and refined. Concrete floors inside and out, schist feature walls and timber boarded ceilings create a warm and solid contrast to the extensive north-facing glazing.  A pair of long low skillion roof forms follow the contours of the site and are designed to allow the necessary shading and solar gain during the year.
